ABOUT US
Sterling Community Theatre strives to provide an outreach of fellowship and cultural enrichment, centered on family and community, by facilitating high quality theatre arts experiences within the greater Sterling community. We seek to cultivate an appreciation of the performing arts by offering live performances, educating through experience, participating in community activities, and through cooperation with other local performing arts groups and The First Church of Sterling.
The Theatre strives to offer a range of challenging, creative opportunities that inspire and allow people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in productions, whether on stage or behind the scenes. Every year we aim to experience growth by expanding participation, encouraging volunteering, and increasing our audience and involvement within the community.

OUR HISTORY
One day in the spring of 1997, Susan Galvin looked at the unused stage in the Parish Hall of The First Church in Sterling and asked, "What do you think about starting a community theatre here?" By that fall, she and a group of The First Church members produced Sterling Community Theatre’s first show, Godspell.
After a surprising success, the group decided to continue the following year with Jesus Christ Superstar. Since then the group has produced at least one show a year, every year. Subsequent shows have included well-known titles such as Fiddler on the Roof, The Wizard of Oz, and The Music Man, and most recently Beauty and the Beast, Footloose, Mamma Mia, Matilda, and School of Rock!
Sterling Community Theatre has always been a proud extension and community outreach of The First Church. Involvement is open to any resident of any town, not just Sterling.
